Lock the iPad Air without any power button

The iOS function “AssistiveTouch” helps with defective buttons. In the settings menu of your iPad Air, press the “General” menu item, followed by “Help menu” on the right side of the screen. Activate the “AssistiveTouch” function under “Interaction”. iOS will now display a grey dot on the right side of the screen. A tap on this opens a menu to which you can assign up to eight functions in the AssistiveTouch settings under “Customize Main Menu”. Even the Home Button can be at least partially replacing with AssistiveTouch in the event of a defect.

If the power button is defective, it is also a good idea to press and hold “Lock screen” to switch off. iPad will then display the “Power Off” option. However, remember that you can only restart iPads with the charger when they are switched off and the power button is defective.
