Samsung, Huawei, and Co. presented their latest models in Barcelona
The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week featured the latest smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Here are four of the most important models that stand out at the fair:
1st Samsung Galaxy S9
It was already clear that Samsung’s Galaxy S9 would be the most important mobile phone in Barcelona. Apart from the iPhone, no other top smartphone sells as well as Samsung’s S series. The external appearance of the S8 differed markedly from its predecessor, the jump in the S9 is less drastic. In fact, the two models can hardly be distinguished from each other at first glance. Only the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the back and the significantly larger camera module reveal that something has happened. On closer inspection, you can also see that the edge of the screen has shrunk further. Not visible, but noticeable are the stronger aluminum housing and the thicker glass, which is supposed to reduce the fracture sensitivity. The S9 and the bigger brother S9+ are a little smaller in comparison to the previous models, but a little thicker, which makes them better in the hand.
The performance data has been increased again, of course, the new Exynos processor is as fast as an arrow, in addition, there is four or six (S9+) gigabyte RAM. Unlike the competition, Samsung remains true to the 3.5mm jack plug, a big buying proposition for those who haven’t yet switched to Bluetooth headphones.
The biggest upgrade was the camera, which is now equipped with a variable aperture (F/1.5 and F/2.4). With good illumination, the camera can capture more details, but still, capture enough light in difficult situations. In addition, the S9+ also has
a second camera with telephoto function. As an impressive gimmick, the S9 can capture up to 960 frames per second at a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. Overall, this represents a significant improvement on the previous year’s camera model.
2nd Sony Xperia XZ2
Sony has reworked its design and introduced the XZ2, an attractive top-of-the-range smartphone. The edges of the display have been significantly reduced, the aspect ratio is now 18:9, which, together with the rounded back and the fingerprint sensor placed there, gives a much more modern look. Unfortunately, the missing headphone plug is also modern.
The XZ2 uses the fast Snapdragon 845 platform and comes with four GB of RAM and 64 GB of hard drive. The 19-megapixel camera even produces slow-mo videos up to 960 frames per second in Full HD.
3rd Nokia 8110 4G
The banana’s back! Last year, a revised version of the legendary 3310 was presented, this time the 8110, from well-known Matrix film. The banana-shaped mobile phone with the cool sliding mechanism has some significant improvements compared to the original. First of all, there is the 2.4-inch screen, which naturally comes in color and with a significantly higher resolution, although 240 x 320 pixels are not impressive by today’s standards.
The second striking feature is the missing antenna, which doesn’t have to stick out of the housing for a long time. The battery, which is supposed to help the mobile phone to run for long periods of time despite the LTE internet connection, has also been modernized. HMD Global spoke of up to 25 days standby time.
Featuring a starter-class Qualcomm processor, 512 megabytes of RAM and four gigabytes of fixed memory, the 8110 4G positions itself as a low-cost two-cell phone with a high nostalgia factor and a lot of endurance. It will be available in yellow or black.
4th Huawei MateBook X Pro
In Barcelona, Huawei was now quite reserved. The new MateBook X
Pro is the successor of the MateBook X. The equipment is top notch, and the almost frameless touchscreen inspires. There was no room for the webcam, it is now placed on the keyboard. The MateBook X Pro will be available in spring.
